Adventures in Craftland,  Christmas Fayres

Round 2: Newbury Artisan Market 26-Nov-2017

I didn’t quite get things right in time for the second fayre at which I sold my purses, either.

The first hurdle was that, having agreed to it, I realised that I was actually out of town for the event. Fortunately my craft fayre buddy was more than happy to take my stock

along to pad out her stall. So, while I was out drinking Glühwein in Liverpool with the fam, Ali was freezing her butt off in Newbury, selling my purses for me. Because she’s a gem.

I did better on the stock front this time – I finished everything that I started, and even put together some marketing for my purses so that people would be able to see what they had to offer. I also purchased a PayPal Here card reader in the lack Friday madness, so that we could do card transactions (review to come). In all, I handed over 12 purses, 1 marketing frame, 1 pile of tissue paper for wrapping, 1 card reader and 1 notice to let people know we had one.

I also scored another small victory when I managed to re purpose one of the many shoe boxes I have around the house into the perfect purse transporting accoutrements – I knew the lovely Poetic Licence box with the cord handles would come in useful eventually!

From what I hear, we did pretty well. Though we haven’t yet got together to debrief, I understand that everything sold really well (Ali sold 3 of my purses as well as loads of her own stuff), she was too busy to try out the card reader, and there’s a lot to be said for a pitch next to a cash point! by the end of the day, the stall was looking rather bare. so all in all, a rather successful weekend, I think, though we still need to work on those photographs!

Updates to come!
